Art Camp at Semnarai Village

Posted by Raminder Chowdhary September - 3 - 2011 0 Comment

One Earth Foundation, under its KARI (Kurumbas Art revival Initiative) project organized an Art Camp at the tribal village of Semnarai.  This was the first camp held in this village and the response was excellent.

On 31st Aug, we set out in the morning from Mamaram towards kolithorai and further through the forest area towards Semnarai.  The forest crossing took longer than planned as we encountered a herd of elephants and also heard the calls of some sloth bears.  After an exciting trek we reached the village and soon had a large group of young art enthusiasts ready to participate in our Kurumbas Art Camp.  We had to restrict participation to 10 with the promise that we will return soon for another camp when all the remaining will get a chance to learn this art form.
