Tribal Study Group

Our recent Kurumba tribe study group connected excellently with the Tribal residents of Vellaricombai.  Even under rain conditions, the students were enthusiastic to undertake their projects and learn about the history, culture and current challenges of this tribe.  An art workshop was held in the covered small verandah of a tribal hut and our local artist was surprised to see the skills displayed by some of our students.  In subsequent discussions in the camp the students strongly felt that all must be done to ensure that this art form is popularized and committed to support our efforts.

Few of the students did a forest medicine study and it was an eye opener to see the knowledge of these people in using forest tress and plants in curing regular ailments and diseasses.

KARI team commends the efforts and enthusiasm of our friends from Mumbai and we hope to see you all back in the Nilgiris soon.
